Sweet And Spicy Chili (Slow Cooker)
- 1 lb of ground beef
- 1 lb of chicken
- 3 pieces of bacon uncured
- 28 oz can of tomatoe puree
- 28 oz can of diced tomatoes
- 2 habaneros
- 1 long hot pepper
- 1/2 onion
- 4 ancho chilies
- 4 guajillo chilies
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 1 bottle of beer or 12 oz of water (Sam Adams winter lager was what I used)
- 1 tbsp garlic minced
- 5 whole cloves
- 2-3 bay leaves
- Garnish
- Cilantro (use as garnish)
- Add Cheese if you would like... Personally I would use something sharp like aged Gruyere shredded up.
- Cut chicken into cubes and bacon into small pieces. Brown the chicken and beef and throw into crock pot. Chop all of the peppers onions and chilies. Make sure to take seeds out of the ancho and guajillo chilies. Cube sweet potatoes and add all of the ingredients into the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours. This will feed about 12 people.
- I have done this with steak too as an alternative to beef and chicken. I liked the top round roast but try some others too. The sweet potatoes really cut down the heat a lot but try with jalapenos first if you are not a spicy person.
