Macaroni And Cheese
- 6 slices of white bread torn-up
- 3 tbl butter
- 1 lb. elbow mac
- 1 tbl salt
- 5 tbl butter
- 6 tbl flour
- 1/2 t. mustard powder
- 1/4 t. cayenne pepper (opt)
- 5 c. milk
- 8 oz each of cheddar and mozzarella cheese
- 1 t salt
- -combine bread crumbs and 3 tbl. butter
- -cook noodles in 6 qts water with 1 tbl salt
- -heat 5 tbl butter in pot over med high heat until foaming
- -add flour and mustard and whisk for about 1 minute
- -gradually whisk in milk and bring to a boil stirring constantly
- -reduce to medium heat and simmer for about 5 minutes
- -remove from heat and whisk in the cheese and 1 tsp salt for about 6 minutes
- -combine cheese mixture with noodles in a 9x13 baking dish
- covering with crumbs
- -broil for 3-5 minutes.
