Hide And Seek Meatballs
- 1 c. soft bread crumbs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp. sage
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 lb. ground chuck
- 3 Tbsp. fat
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 c. applesauce
- 1/2 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
- 1 c. diced or chopped fresh tomatoes or canned
- 1/8 tsp. basil
- pepper to taste
- pastry for 9-inch single crust pie
- Combine first 5 ingredients; mix well.
- Add beef and mix well until well blended.
- Form into small balls.
- Brown on all sides and put in casserole.
- Drain off all but 3 teaspoons of fat and saute onion, then add applesauce, horseradish, tomato, basil, salt and pepper.
- Pour over meatballs.
- Top with pastry.
- Serves 6. Bake at 400u0b0 for 30 to 40 minutes.
