Poultry Hawaiian(Low-Fat)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 carrots, julienne strips
- 1 green pepper, in strips
- 1 c. celery, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 6 oz. chicken broth
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1/3 c. soy sauce
- 1/3 c. pineapple liquid
- 1/4 c. pineapple tidbits, drained
- 1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushroom bits
- 3 c. turkey or chicken, in strips
- Saute onion and garlic in vegetable oil.
- Stir in carrots, green pepper and celery.
- Add chicken broth.
- Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
- Blend soy sauce and cornstarch until smooth in a separate container.
- Add pineapple liquid; blend.
- Add liquid mixture to vegetable mixture.
- Cook, stirring often, until sauce thickens.
- Boil 5 minutes.
- Stir in pineapple, mushrooms, water chestnuts and poultry.
- Cover and heat slowly.
- Serve over rice or noodles.
