Apple Carmel Crunch

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. First, peel & thinly slice apples and put in a bowl. Mix apples together with your hands so the two types of apples are evenly distrubuted. Drizzle 2 tsp. of fresh lemon juice over apples and quickly mix again. Set aside.
  3. Add cream cheese and egg to a mixing bowl and beat on high until creamed. Then, add vanilla, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar and powdered sugar to the cream cheese mixture and mix well.
  4. Next, add apples to the cream cheese mixture and stir thoroughly.
  5. Layer 1 sheet of defrosted puff pastry into 9 x 9 pan prepared with nonstick spray. May have to cut pastry to fit pan. Spoon 1/2 of the apple cream cheese mixture onto puff pastry. Lay 2nd pastry on top of apple mixture, then spoon rest of apple mixture on top of the 2nd pastry. Top with streusal mixture.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Right before serving drizzle warmed carmel over individual serving and enjoy!
