Meat Filled Jumbo Shells
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 lb. bulk Italian sausage
- 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp. sweet basil
- 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese
- 2/3 c. Italian flavored bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 c. wine or water
- 16 to 20 jumbo pasta shells
- spaghetti sauce
- Saute beef, sausage, onion and garlic until meat is well browned.
- Drain off fat.
- Add red pepper, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, sweet basil, Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, egg and wine.
- Mix together.
- Cook shells according to package directions. Drain shells well.
- Fill each shell with meat filling.
- Spread a layer of sauce on bottom of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Place shells, open side up, in a single layer in the pan.
- Cover with sauce.
- Sprinkle top with Parmesan cheese and bake at 350u0b0 for about 35 minutes until hot.
- Makes 3 to 4 servings.
