Chocolate Saltine Squares

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Line a cookie sheet (jelly roll pan)with foil.Cover pan with a layer of saltine crackers. Don't overlap. Melt butter with sugar. Pour over the saltines. Bake on top shelf of oven for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately top with chocolate morsels. Pop back in the turned-off oven for a minute or two to start the morsels melting. Spread morsels quickly and sprinkle with crushed almonds while still hot. Score now with a knife exactly between the crackers - both ways. Chill thoroughly in fridge. Warm up slightly, score again. Break into squares. Best if stored in the fridge - indefinitely.
