Barbecue Beef On A Bun
- 1 lb. boneless beef chuck or rump roast
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. finely chopped onion
- 1 c. finely chopped celery
- 1/2 c. finely chopped green pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp. cider vinegar
- 1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
- 4 large buttered buns
- Dry roast on paper towels.
- In a deep, heavy pot, heat oil and add roast.
- Brown on all sides.
- Add all the other ingredients. Cover and simmer slowly over medium to low heat for 3 to 4 hours until beef can be easily shredded.
- With two forks, shred the beef and mix into the sauce.
- Taste and add salt, if necessary. Serve on hot buttered buns.
