Spicy Marinated Shrimp (Mom'S)
- 2 lb cooked fresh shrimp, peeled with tail left on
- 1 lg red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 lg lemons, sliced
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, halved
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 1 tsp leaf basil, crumbled
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 3 or 4 whole allspice
- Layer shrimp, red onion, and lemon slices in a medium-size bowl.
- Combine oil, vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, bay leaf, dry mustard, basil, salt, pepper, and allspice in a jar with a tight fitting lid; cover; shake thoroughly.
- Pour marinade over shrimp; toss gently. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight, tossing occasionally. Serve with decorative food picks and garnish with parsley sprigs.
