Homemade Pizza
- 2 packages of Betty Crocker Pizza Crust Mix
- 1 cup flour
- 2 cups hot (not boiling) water
- 1 lb. mozzarella cheese (can use shredded, if preferred)
- Approx. 8-10 oz. tomato sauce, depending on taste - enough to cover top of pizza.
- Whatever toppings you like - onion, green and/or red peppers, sliced black olives, pepperoni, sausage, etc. (about 1/2 cup of each), cut into small pieces.
- Preheat over to 450 degrees.
- Grease large cookie sheet (large enough to make Sicilian size pie). Cover lightly in olive oil - this works best. Wipe off excess w/paper towel.
- Put contents of 2 pkgs. of pizza crust mix in large bowl. Add 1 cup flour, mix. Add 1 cup hot water. Stir in and check consistency of dough. It should not be too gluey, nor too dry. Add more water, if needed, a little at a time, stirring and checking consistency. Add rest of water, if needed. If dough seems too gluey at this point, add a little more flour.
- Knead dough slightly - You should have a soft, round ball, floury, but not too dry or too gluey - if too gluey, add a little flour, if too dry, a little more water.
- Cover bowl with plate or plastic wrap and let sit for 5 min. for dough to rise (the yeast is already in the Betty Crocker pizza crust).
- After 5 min. press dough into cookie sheet, distributing evenly, making an approx. 1/4 in. crust around sides of pan.
- Cover dough with tomato sauce, add toppings, and bake for approx. 25-30 min., checking for crispiness.
- Let cool for about 6 min. before cutting.
- Enjoy!
