- 1/2 cup Shortening
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 cups Milk Scalded - cooled to warm
- 7 1/2 cups Flour
- 1 1/2 pounds Colby Cheese grated
- 1/4 cup Butter softened
- 2 dashes Salt

- Mix together the eggs, Crisco, sugar, salt and warm milk. Add 1/2 of the flour and mix. Add the yeast mixture, mix and then add the rest of the flour. mix in and then knead the dough mixture until it is slightly tacky, usually will take 5-8 mins to get smooth dough. Cover with a towel and let rise for 2 hours
- Split dough in half and cover the part you are not using with a towel. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured board until it's about 1/8 of an inch thick. Spread softened butter over rolled out dough. Sprinkle 1/2 of the grated cheese over the butter. Lightly salt. Roll up the dough starting at one end and tuck in sides as you go. Try to get a tight roll by gently pulling on the dough as you roll. Pinch the ends of the dough together and pinch the seam to make a tight seal. Put in a greased bread pan and cover with a towel. Let rise for an hour or until it doubles in size.
- Warm over to 350 and put loaves in. Bake for about 25 mins or until browned on top and bottom. when done, remove from pans and let cool.
