Bavarian Apple Torte
- 1/2 C. butter
- 1 C. Sugar, divided
- 1 C. Flour
- 1 Pkg. Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 Egg
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 4 C. sliced peeled apples
- 1/4 C. sliced almonds
- PREHEAT oven to 425 F. Beat butter and 1/3 cup of sugar in a small bowl. Mix on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add flour and mix well. Spread onto bottom of 9" springform pan and 1 inch up the side.
- BEAT cream cheese and 1/3 cup of sugar on med. speed until well blended. Add 1 egg and vanilla. mix well. Spread evenly over crust. Combine last 1/3 of sugar to the cinnamon. Add the apples to a large bowl; toss to coat. Spoon over cream cheese layer. Sprinkle with almonds.
- BAKE 10 mins. Reduce temp. to 375 F continue baking for 25 mins or until centre is done. Insert toothpick and see if it comes out clean. If so, then it is done. Cool on a wire rack. Loosen the torte from sides of the pan. Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours. Cut into 10-12 slices and enjoy.
