Tamale Pie
- 1 package Smart Ground TSP
- or
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 c chopped onion
- 1 c chopped green pepper
- 2 8-oz cans tomato sauce
- 1 12-oz can corn (drained)
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tbs sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 tsp chili powder
- For Topping
- 1 1/2 c shredded chedder cheese
- 3/4 c cornmeal
- 1/2 tspn salt
- 2 c cold water
- 1 tbs butter
- Cook meat or tsp in skillet with onion, pepper and garlic
- Stir in tomato sauce, corn, sugar, 1 tsp salt, and chili powder
- Simmer 20-25 minutes till thick
- Add cheese adn stir till melted
- Add to 9x9x2 baking dish
- Stir cornmeal adn 1/2 tsp salt with cold water
- Add to low heat, stirring constantly, till thick
- Add butter and mix well
- Spoon over meat mixture
- Bake at 375 for 40 minutes
