Fruit Cake(England)

  1. Line 8 bread pans with wax paper.
  2. Cream shortening and sugar. Add spices, molasses and beaten eggs.
  3. Mix thoroughly.
  4. Add currants and raisins.
  5. Cut up candied fruit and add; chop walnuts and add.
  6. Add salt and baking soda.
  7. Alternately add coffee and flour, using only enough coffee to make mixture moist.
  8. Bake in a 250u0b0 oven for 2 hours or until toothpick comes out dry.
  9. Yields 8 loaves.
