Italian Meat Casserole
- 4 c. cooked elbow macaroni
- 1/4 c. butter
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. garlic salt
- 2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
- Cook macaroni until tender.
- Melt 1/4 cup of butter in skillet; saute onions and beef with seasonings until meat is brown, stirring often with fork.
- Add 1 1/3 cups of cheese to meat mixture; stir until melted.
- Remove from heat.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of butter with macaroni.
- Add meat mixture, 1 1/2 cans tomato sauce and mushrooms and mix well.
- Pour into a 2-quart casserole.
- Top with remaining tomato sauce and cheese.
- Bake at 325u0b0 for 30 minutes.
