Charlie'S Beef Stroganoff

  1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan.
  2. Add garlic, shallots, onion, mushrooms and bay leaf.
  3. Saute vegetables until tender, but not browned.
  4. Discard bay leaf.
  5. Stir in flour until well blended.
  6. Add tomato sauce and hot broth.
  7. Stir until well blended.
  8. Cook until smooth and slightly thickened.
  9. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
