Penne With Italian Sausage And Peppers
- 1 Lb. Penne or Ziti
- 1 Lb. Italian Sausage
- 8 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 1 small yellow onion, cut in 1/2 inch wedges
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 yellow pepper, sliced
- 1 Cup heavy cream
- 1 jar Marinara ( I prefer Paul Newmans)
- Red Pepper Flakes, to taste
- Olive Oil
- Prepare pasta according to direcions on package.
- Meanwhile, in large saute pan, heat 1 tbsp. olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and bacon and cook until browned. Add garlic, onion and peppers and suate until softened, 5-7 minutes. Add heavy cream and pepper flakes and bring to boil. Let thicken a few minutes. Add Marinara and let simmer 10 minutes.
- Add pasta to sauce. Add any pasta water to thin, if needed.
- Serve with a simple salad and crusty bread
