Fleurie'S Caramelized Onion Spread

  1. 1. Place the butter or olive oil in a large frying pan over low heat. Add onions and cook, sitting with a wooden spoon from time to time, until they caramelize and turn a golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the onions cool for about 10 minutes.
  2. 2. Place the cream cheese, mayo, sour cream, cayenne pepper, ad salt in food processor and pulse until smooth. Scrape the onions into the processor and mix until the onions are evenly distributed. Taste for seasoning. Refrigerate, but let it come to room temperature before serving so it's easier to spread.
