Sourdough Bread From Herman

  1. Combine milk, 1 cup water and cooking oil; bring to a boil, then cool to lukewarm.
  2. Take 1/4 cup warm water and dissolve yeast in it; add sugar and salt and add this mixture to cooled milk mixture.
  3. Put flour in a large bowl; hollow out center and pour milk mixture in center of flour.
  4. Add Herman and stir; do not knead.
  5. Put dough in a greased pan or bowl; cover and let rise until double.
  6. Divide into 2 loaves.
  7. Roll into desired shape. Place in greased baking pans.
  8. Let rise, uncovered, in a warm place until double.
  9. Bake 15 minutes at 425u0b0, then 15 to 20 minutes at 350u0b0.
