Irish Brown Bread

  1. preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. sprinkle baking sheet with 2 Tablespoons all purpose flour
  3. mix together all the rest of the dry ingredients
  4. add buttermilk and stir to moist dough.
  5. Knead dough for 1 minute.
  6. form dough into an 8 inch round. transfer to baking sheet. use a sharp knife and cut an X across the top of the round going into the dough about 1/4 inch.
  7. bake about 50 minutes. you'll know it's done if you take it out of the oven (use a baking mitt or towel), thump on the bottom of the bread. If it sounds hollow it's done! wrap in a tool and let cool. serve with butter and jam
