Simple Home-Made Hot Chocolate
- Hot Chocolate
- 1 cup 2% milk
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/4 tsp. almond extract
- Whipped Cream
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 2 tablespoons of Confectioner's sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- Perhaps a pinch of cinnamon and/or nutmeg to add to the top
- Prepare the whipped cream ahead of time: Whip 1 cup heavy whipping cream combined with confectioner's sugar and vanilla extract together until the cream has a nice texture. Set aside or refrigerate up to 24 hours ahead of time.
- Hot Chocolate:
- Combine heavy whipping cream, milk, and 1/4 cup brown sugar. Bring to a simmer until it reaches a nice warm temperature (or until the brown sugar melts, whichever happens last). Add the almond extract then remove from burner.
- Mix in the cocoa until dissolved.
- Serve with whipped cream on top.
