Larry'S German Sweet Chocolate Cake

  1. Heat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. Grease and flour 3 (9 inch) round cake pans.
  3. Microwave chocolate and water in a large bowl on high 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until chocolate is almost melted, stirring halfway through heating time.
  4. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  5. Add egg yolks, one at a time beating well after each addition.
  6. Stir in chocolate mixture and vanilla.
  7. Add flour alternately with butter milk, beating after each addition until smooth.
  8. Beat egg whites in another large bowl with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form.
  9. Gently stir into batter.
  10. Pour into prepared pans.
  11. Bake 30 minutes or until cakes springs back when lightly touched.
  12. Immediately loosen cake from pan.
  13. Cool 15 minutes, and remove from pans.
  14. Cool completely.
  15. Spread frosting on top of each layer.
  16. Makes 12 servings use coconut pecan filling frosting.
