Berry Booster Smoothie 320C
- 3/4 to 1 cup (one serving) of frozen berries of choice (I like boysenberries!)
- 2 scoops vanilla whey protein powder (up to 200 calories)
- 1/4 cup nonfat plain yogurt
- 1 tsp fiber (see notes below)
- 2 packs of splenda
- 2 cups water
- handful of ice
- pour water, berries, protein powder, yogurt, fiber, splenda into blender. Add enough ice to desired consistency. Blend then serve and enjoy.
- Note on whey protein: Most supermarkets now carry a variety of protein powders, usually in the healthfood section, and usually marketed for body-builders. Worry not. That's the stuff you want, and it works great for dieting. Check the label, and just be sure each scoop is about 100 calories and about 17 grams of protein. Vanilla flavor works best, and I prefer whey protein, although you can find it made from soy as well. I buy mine from the Vitamin Shoppe, usually 2 for 1, and my brand of choice, purely a preference, is called "BodyTech Whey Tech Vanilla".
- Note on fiber: This is available in almost all supermarkets and health food stores. It is basically powder psyllium husks, and I use it to boost the fiber of all the foods I eat. Make sure whatever brand you choose, the powder is unflavored.
