Soft Italian Chocolate Cookies
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 cup butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp. pure almond extract
- 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 6 T cocoa
- 3 eggs
- Juice of one orange or 1/2 cup canned orange juice
- 1-2 shots whiskey
- 1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- Frosting (optional)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
- Beat together butter, sugar, spices, cocoa, eggs, and orange juice at medium speed for minutes. Add flour and baking powder (omit baking powder if using self rising flour). Mix well. Fold in walnuts. Take dough out and shape into balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool on a cookie rack.

- Combine milk, pure vanilla extract, and powdered sugar in a bowl until consistency of a thin frosting.
