Italian Spaghetti With Meat Sauce
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 green pepper, finely chopped
- 2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato sauce
- 2 cans (15 oz. each) tomato paste
- 2 envelopes (1 1/2 oz. each) Italian style spaghetti sauce mix with mushrooms
- 3 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. crushed oregano leaves
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 bay leaf, crumbled
- 16 oz. Italian style spaghetti
- Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 lb. bacon
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 3 ribs celery, chopped
- 1 c. chopped parsley
- 1 medium bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 c. green onions, chopped
- 2 lb. peeled raw shrimp
- salt to taste
- red pepper or black pepper to taste
- 8 c. water
- 4 c. raw long grain or Uncle Ben's rice
- 2 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet
- In a 6-quart pot, brown bacon until very crispy and dry. Remove bacon, leaving drippings in pot.
- Brown onions in drippings until golden brown.
- Add celery, garlic, bell pepper, green onions and parsley and cook over medium heat about 10 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Add water, Kitchen Bouquet and bacon.
- As soon as mixture comes to boil, add shrimp (or meats of your choice).
- Cook over medium heat about 10 minutes.
- Then add rice. Cook 10 more minutes before covering pot.
- Cover, then cook on medium heat until rice is done.
- Serves 10 to 12.
