Awesome Beef Stew
- 3 c. water
- 1 c. red wine
- 1 Tbsp. chopped parsley
- 1/3 c. chopped celery tops
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1 envelope onion soup mix
- 1 envelope au jus mix
- 2 lb. stew meat, floured and seasoned
- 1 large can potatoes
- 1 c. chopped celery
- 6 to 8 boiling onions
- 6 carrots, thickly sliced
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 clove minced garlic
- Brown meat on all sides in oil.
- Transfer to large casserole dish.
- Combine first 8 ingredients and heat to boiling.
- Pour over meat.
- Cover and bake at 325u0b0 for 2 to 3 hours or until meat is almost tender.
- Add more if necessary.
- Add remaining ingredients and bake about 45 minutes or until vegetables are done.
- Thicken stock, if desired.
- Serve with hot sourdough bread.
- Delicious.
