Baba'S Walnut Cake

  1. 1. In a large bowl, mix the sugar and egg yolks (separate the whites in a separate bowl) until it turns a pale yellow color and becomes creamy.
  2. 2. Add flour and ground nuts to batter.
  3. 3. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the batter.
  4. 4. Bake in a moderate oven (350 degrees) in 2 cake pans for around 40 minutes.
  5. ICING
  6. 1. Mix eggs and sugar.
  7. 2. Stir over slow fire until smooth and thick (must be done very slowly).
  8. 3. Add chocolate, which you have melted in the oven (no water), or you can add it bit by bit into the egg/sugar mixture.
  9. 4. Mix butter and add the above mixture.
  10. 5. If you like, add a teaspoon of coffee to the hot mixture, or add more ground nuts.
