Fruit Cake

  1. Boil together about 4 minutes sugar, Crisco, water and raisins.
  2. When almost cold, add cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, flour ,baking soda, eggs and wine.
  3. Add fruit and dates.
  4. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of the flour on fruit.
  5. Grease long loaf pans (2).
  6. Line with wax paper.
  7. Grease again.
  8. Add second layer of waxed paper.
  9. Bake in slow oven at 275u0b0 for 2 to 3 hours until toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Makes 2 long fruit cakes.
