Mom'S Granola
- 3 cups old fashioned oats
- 2 tablespoons ground flax seed (flax meal)
- 1 cup untoasted wheat germ
- 1 cup unsweetened coconut chips
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/4 cup instant non-fat dry milk
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 1/2 cup almonds
- 3/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (Canola oil preferred)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup craisins
- 1/2 cup dried blueberries
- 1/2 cup chopped tart cherries (optional)
- Heat oven to 300 degrees.
- Mix all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl (except for the dried fruit).
- Combine honey, oil and vanilla and heat in microwave for 1 minute. Drizzle the liquid mixture over the dry ingredients, stirring to coat evenly.
- Spread evenly in two 10x12 inch bar pans. Place in oven for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes. Add dried fruit for the last 10 minutes.
- Cool completely. Store in an air-tight container.
