Joy'S Baked Italian Spaghetti
- 1 medium onion, minced (3/4 c.)
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 3 Tbsp. salad oil
- 3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1/4 tsp. dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp. dried rosemary
- 1/4 tsp. dried marjoram
- 1/4 tsp. dried basil
- dash of garlic salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. Burgundy wine
- 1/2 lb. spaghetti, broken into 2-inch lengths
- 1 c. grated American Cheddar cheese
- Saute the onion and beef in salad oil in a Dutch oven until brown.
- Add tomato sauce, herbs, sugar, seasonings and wine. Simmer, covered, stirring occasionally, for one hour.
- Meanwhile, cook spaghetti as directed on package and drain.
- Add to sauce with 1/2 cup of grated cheese.
- Turn into a 3-quart casserole and sprinkle top with the other 1/2 cup of cheese.
- You may use a full cup of cheese for topping if you like.
- Bake, covered, for 45 minutes in a 325u0b0 oven.
- Then uncover and bake an additional 30 minutes.
- Total baking time is one hour and 15 minutes.
- Serves six.
