Chris' Famous Apple Pie
- 1 Pilsbury Pie Crust defrosted according to directions. Do not use the microwave to defrost
- 6 Medium Cortland Apples
- 2 Medium MacIntosh Apples
- 1 Lemon squeezed
- 2/4 cup Domino Light Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup Domino Granulated Sugar
- 4-5 dashes of Nutmeg
- 1 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 4 thin slices Butter
- 3 Tablespoons Flour
- Milk for brushing pie crust
- Preheat oven at 425 degrees
- Peel and slice apples to a medium cut. Do not cut into chunks. Place in bowl and coat with lemon juice. Add brown and white sugar and coat. Add Nutmeg and Cinnamon and coat one more time and place aside.
- Take a 9" pie plate and lay the first pie crust at the bottom, press down firmly and cut the edges to fit. Add the flour evenly to the bottom of the plate.
- Arrange apples in the pie plate in layers. The pie when completed layering should look like a gradual climb to a peak. Top off with 4 slices of butter, scattered on the apples.
- Take the 2nd pie crust and use a rolling pin to make it large enough to fit over the top of the pie. Seal the edges together with a fork, all along the sides and cut off any access dough. Cut a circular hole in the center and 3 slits on 4 sides of the pie (1 long and 2 smaller ones on each side). Brush the crust with milk.
- Place Pie in center of a lined cookie sheet on the bottom rack in a 425 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Check the pie 25-30 minutes into cooking to see if crust has browned to your liking. If pie crust is browned cover it loosely with aluminum foil until the apples are cooked at the end of the 40-45 minutes.
- Let it stand for a minimum of 45 minutes before serving. Top with Ice Cream or Whip Cream.
