Baked Cinnamon-Apple French Toast

  1. 1). Heat the butter in a skillet over medium heat until it starts to foam. Add the apples. Cook until tender, 10 mins. Remove from the heat. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. 2). Cut toast in half diagonally to make triangles. Arrange triangles, overlapping in a buttered 9" by 13" baking dish.
  3. 3). Beat eggs in a bowl. Whisk in sugar, milk, and vanilla. Pour over toast triangles. Spoon apples over the top. Cover, refrigerate overnight.
  4. 4). In the morning, take 1 stick of butter out of the refrigerator to soften. Heat oven to 350. Bake french toast, uncovered, until custard is set and doesn't shimmy when you shake pan. About 50-60 minutes. It will puff up and brown slightly. Remove from oven and let rest 10 mins. Serve with Honey Butter.
  5. To make the Honey Butter:
  6. While french toast is baking, beat 1 stick of unsalted softened butter in a bowl with a wooden spoon. Mix in a pinch of salt and 1T of honey. Pack into a ramekin and serve at room temp.
