Barbecued Franks
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 c. chopped celery
- 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
- 3/4 c. catsup
- 1/2 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. ground mustard
- 8 frankfurters
- 8 hot dog buns
- Saute onion, green pepper and celery in butter in a Dutch oven until tender.
- Add catsup, water, lemon juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, sugar and mustard.
- Cook over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add frankfurters; simmer an additional 5 minutes, or until franks are thoroughly heated. To serve, place in buns and spoon sauce on top.
- Yields 8 servings.
