Austrian Goulash(Crock-Pot Style)
- 1 1/2 lb. beef stew meat
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic
- 4 small carrots
- 1/2 stalk celery
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomato puree
- 8 oz. beef gravy
- 1 lb. wide noodles
- pepper and salt
- 3 to 4 ground whole allspice
- 1/2 bay leaf
- 3 to 4 peppercorns
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- Sprinkle meat generously with salt, pepper and ground allspice.
- Place in crock-pot on high setting.
- Add 1 cut up onion and minced garlic.
- Add carrots, celery, bay leaf, 3 or 4 peppercorns and 4 whole allspice.
- Add tomato puree and sugar.
- Add beef gravy, leave on high for 2 hours, then turn down to low.
- Set for 7 hours.
- Boil noodles.
- Strain sauce if you desire.
- Serve over noodles.
- Top with grated cheese.
