Mother'S Best Fudge Cake

  1. Combine chocolate, 1/2 cup milk, well beaten egg and 2/3 cup sugar in saucepan; cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly.
  2. Cool.
  3. Thoroughly cream shortening, 1 cup sugar and vanilla.
  4. Beat in eggs 1 at a time.
  5. Sift dry ingredients together; add alternately with 2/3 cup milk.
  6. Blend in chocolate mixture. Pour into 2 paper (wax) lined 9 x 1 1/2-inch round pans.
  7. Bake in moderate oven, 350u0b0, for 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Frost with Chocolate Satin Frosting.
