California Seafood Brunch Bake
- 8 oz. fresh mushrooms
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 12 oz. crabmeat, flaked
- 2/3 c. sliced green onions
- 2 c. shredded Swiss cheese
- 5 to 6 c. (1-inch) French bread cubes
- 4 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- Saute mushrooms in butter in skillet over low heat for 8 minutes, remove from heat.
- Stir in crabmeat, green onions and cheese.
- Layer bread cubes and seafood mixture, half at a time, in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, pressing down layers.
- Whisk eggs and remaining ingredients in bowl.
- Pour over layers.
- Chill, covered, for 4 hours or overnight.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 40 to 50 minutes or until set.
- Yield: 12 servings.
