Bishop'S Bread(Red And Green Cherries Make This A Good Dessert For Christmas)
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped dates or 10 oz. box pitted dates
- 3/4 c. red and green maraschino cherries, coarsely chopped
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 1 c. sugar
- Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
- Stir in nuts, fruit and chocolate.
- Beat eggs and sugar together in separate bowl.
- Add to first mixture and stir until blended.
- Mixture will be very thick. Line a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with brown paper.
- Grease paper with margarine very thoroughly.
- Pour in mixture.
- Bake in preheated oven at 325u0b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until top is browned.
- Put on rack to cool, carefully removing paper.
- Stores well.
