Apple Crumble

  1. Peel, core, chop and cook apples with all the other filling ingredients. (Chop each apple into quarters, and then each quarter into 3 so that the chunks aren't too small.) Cook till soft but still with some firmness. You don't want apple sauce!
  2. Mix the flower, oats, salt and sugar - and then rub in the butter until the mixture is grainy. Add the nuts.
  3. Put the apples into a dish - maybe 20cm diameter - and pour the crumble on top. Don't press it down.
  4. Bake at 180 celsius for 30 minutes - or until the top is golden.
  5. Serve with vanilla ice cream or marscapone cream.
