Danish Cinnamon Rolls
- Dough:
- 2 dl Milk
- 50 g Yeast
- 100 g Margarine
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 Tsp Cardamom
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 500 g Flour
- Filling (potentially times 2):
- 150 g Margarine
- 85 g Sugar
- 2 Tbsp Cinnamon
- Mix yeast with lukewarm milk, then add the rest of the ingredients. Mix/knead well until the dough is shiny and flexible (it should be fairly moist). Let it rise for about 30 minutes, or until doubled.
- Prepare the filling while you wait: mix the margarine, sugar, and cinnamon, and let it stand in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- After the dough has risen, knead it again and split it into 2 halves (unless you have a long work surface). Roll out each piece of dough into a rectangle no more than 1 cm thick and smooth half the filling over the dough. Roll the dough from the long side and cut every 2-4 cm, depending on how big you want each roll to be.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise another 30 minutes.
- Brush with egg if desired. Bake them in the oven at 375 degrees F for 15-20 minutes or golden brown.
