Best Barbecue Sauce
- 2 1/4 c. catsup
- 2 1/4 c. water
- 2 tsp. instant beef broth
- 1 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 2 dashes hot pepper sauce
- 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. liquid smoke
- 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
- Mix all of the above ingredients in a large saucepan.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Cover; reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes.
- (If not using immediately, cool somewhat, transfer to a container with cover and refrigerate.)
- Use as a barbecue sauce for chicken or ribs.
- Makes about 1 quart.
