Carbonnades Flamanndes(Flemish Beef Stew)

  1. Dredge meat in flour and brown in 1/2 butter in heavy skillet or Dutch oven.
  2. Sprinkle 1/2 cup more flour over meat, mix well. In a separate skillet, saute garlic, onions and butter remaining. Combine meat in large casserole.
  3. Add remaining ingredients except vinegar.
  4. Cover and bake at 325u0b0 for 2 hours or until tender.
  5. Stir occasionally.
  6. Add vinegar shortly before serving with noodles or rice.
  7. Can be cooked in Dutch oven on top of stove, covered.
