Grandma'S Banana Cake
- 4 very ripe bananas, pureed
- 2/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups sifted flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vanilla, chocolate or your special frosting
- Cream butter, sugar and eggs by beating together until fluffy and light in color. Set aside.
- In separate bow, beat together banana puree, buttermilk and vanilla until well mixed. Set aside.
- Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture to puree alternately with egg mixture, beating each time until well blended.
- Pour into buttered and floured cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees until wood pick inserted in center comes out clean, 40 to 50 minutes. Cool thoroughly in pan.
- Frost with desired frosting and serve.
