Macaroni & Cheese

  1. While cooking the macarroni & brocoli (if wanted), make the cheese sauce.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 F. Butter a 1.5 quart caserole dish (bigger if adding brocoli).
  3. In a small sauce pan, melt the butter. Add the garlic if desired. Stir in the flour and stir until it makes a paste (but don't let it become brown!).
  4. Add milk (make sure its warm!) slowly and mix until entire sauce is smooth and thick.
  5. Add the cheese & cayenne. Stir until all the cheese has melted. Add salt & pepper if needed.
  6. Mix the sauce with the pasta & brocoli (if wanted). Pour mix into caserole dish. Sprinkle cheese over the top. Sprinkle the bread crumbs over the cheese.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes.
