Favorite Chili
- 1 1/4 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tomato sauce can water
- 1 envelope chili seasoning mix
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 3/4 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. marjoram
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
- 3 (16 oz.) cans red kidney beans
- Brown ground beef with onion and green pepper in heavy saucepan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, stirring until ground beef is crumbly; drain.
- Combine tomato sauce, water, chili seasoning mix, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, oregano and marjoram in bowl; mix well.
- Add to ground beef.
- Add tomatoes and beans; mix well.
- Simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hours or to desired consistency, stirring frequently.
- May add additional water if chili becomes too dry.
- Yield:
- 6 servings.
