Turkey Sloppy Joes
- Vegetable cooking spray
- 1/2 pound freshly ground turkey
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons chile powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/8 teaspoon cumin
- 6 whole wheat hamburger buns
- 1/2 cup shredded low-fat Cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
- 1) Coat a nonstick skillet with cooking spray; place over medium heat until hot. Add turkey, celery, and onion; cook until turkey is browned, stirring to crumble.
- 2) Stir n tomato sauce and next 7 ingredients. Bring to a boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 3) Divide turkey mixture evenly between bottom halves of buns; top with shredded cheese, lettuce, and tops of buns
