German-Italian Beans

  1. Place sausages in skillet; brown on all sides.
  2. Remove sausages from skillet.
  3. Add onions and beans to pan drippings. Cook over moderate heat, stirring, until onions are transparent. Add basil, savory, salt, pepper, consomme, mushrooms and potatoes; mix well.
  4. Return sausages to skillet.
  5. Bring to boil; reduce heat and simmer, covered, for about 30 minutes, or until beans and potatoes are done.
  6. Liquid can be thickened with cornstarch, if desired.
  7. Serves 6.
