Apple Cookies

  1. Preheat oven 300F.
  2. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir in oats.
  3. Cream butter and sugars. Scrape down sides. Add in egg and vanilla. Mix in apples and applesauce. Mix well.
  4. Gradually mix in flour mixture. DO NOT OVER MIX. Fold in nuts.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet 1-1/2 inches apart. Sprinkle top of each cookie with reserved 1/4 cup oats. Bake 23-25 minutes or till bottoms are golden. Transfer immediately.
