Wasabi-Sesme Seed Seared Ahi With Wasabi Butter
- Serves four:
- Four ahi tuna steaks(sushimi grade).
- Four tbsp softened butter.
- Four tsp wasabi paste(japanese horseradish paste).
- One third cup roasted sesame seeds.
- Two tsp peanut oil.
- 1. Mix softened butter and two tsp wasabi paste. Separate into four patties and refrigirate for at least 1/2 hour or untill hardened.
- 2.Coat the four ahi steaks with the remaining wasabi paste - use additional paste if needed to completely cover both sides of the fish.
- 3.Spread the sesame seeds on a flat dish and coat both sides of the ahi steaks with the seeds. Use as many sesame seeds as needed to completely cover fish.
- 4.Heat peanut oil in a heavy skillet until starting to smoke. Sear steaks no more than one minute to a side.
- 5.Serve ahi steaks with a patty of the refrigerated wasabi butter on top of each.
