Blissful Brownies
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3.5 ounce bar of extra quality very dark chocolate (such as Lindt or Ghiradelli Intense Dark with 60% or greater cocoa content)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon dry instant coffee granules
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch salt (optional)
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- Also: Powdered Sugar for decoration if desired
- > In a microwave-safe bowl break the chocolate into pieces, add the butter (one stick), and heat in microwave till both are melted ~ 30 seconds to one minute depending on your oven power. Briefly stir the melted chocolate and butter till smooth and glossy.
- > In another bowl beat together the sugar, eggs, vanilla, & coffee granules. To this add the melted butter & chocolate mixture.
- > Add the dry ingredients and the nuts ~ stir or beat till combined.
- > Pour into a greased 8x8x2 inch pan. You may line pan with wax paper or parchment for ease of removal from pan if you wish.
- > Bake at 325 degrees for about 30 minutes. Brownie surface will rise, then fall and may just begin to crack when done.
- > Cool, cut and sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.
- Note:
- For ease of slicing you may flip the brownie out of it's pan and cut into 16 squares ~ then cover the cut brownies again with the pan and flip it back over so they go back into the pan neatly cut & ready for easy handling and serving.
