Chocolate Velvet Cake

  1. Combine chocolate morsels and 1/4 cup water in saucepan.
  2. Stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Sift flour, soda and salt together. Set aside.
  3. Combine sugar, butter and vanilla in a bowl.
  4. Beat until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in melted chocolate mixture. Stir in flour mixture alternately with 1 cup water.
  5. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch layer cake pans (you can use a Bundt cake pan, if desired).
  6. Bake in a 375u0b0 oven for 30 to 35 minutes (may need longer if using Bundt pan).
  7. Cool.
